Winter recap from Masaryk
Dear alumni,
As spring slowly awakens, so does the city of Brno. But one thing that never rests is knowledge – and Masaryk University. That’s why we're bringing you the latest updates from the past winter months. And there are plenty of them.

University news
The Bohunice University Campus is set to expand once again. In another major investment project, Masaryk University is taking sports facilities on campus to a whole new level. The sports hall and outdoor sports oval will be completed by 2028.

Students
More than 1,600 international students study at Masaryk University in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in foreign languages. The range of these programmes is constantly expanding: a new one was introduced at the Faculty of Science in September, and three more will start in the next academic year at the Faculty of Economics and Administration and the Faculty of Science.

University-wide meeting of students, staff and alumni will take place on 15 May 2025.
A sports and social gathering across the university for all staff and students, that is MUNI DAY. With your help, we'll fill the Bohunice University Campus with sport, culture, fun and also knowledge!

Expedition 2025 aims to continue climate monitoring, track the state of polar geosystems and ecosystems, investigate the spread of the dreaded bird flu in Antarctica, and study material washing ashore from the sea.

Alumni community
Felizardo Armando Muianga studied Didactics of Foreign Language (English) at the Faculty of Education. He received the MU Vice-Rector’s Award this year for his excellent results in his doctoral studies.

Brno news
This year, it will again be possible to cycle around Brno free of charge thanks to the City of Brno’s bike-sharing scheme, which begins on Monday, 3 March. Each participant can take two subsidized 30-minute rides a day, and it is estimated that the money allocated should be enough to keep the scheme running until October.

Brno news
The construction project to extend Brno’s tram network to the Kamechy housing estate was officially launched in Brno today with the tapping of the foundation stone. At a cost of CZK 1.8 billion, the 1,400-metre extension is one of the largest and most expensive infrastructure projects in the history of Brno public transport, and will improve accessibility in the rapidly growing district with more environmentally friendly and efficient public transport.
